The location for this shoot was set beneath this massive red industrial structure, aiming to utilize the sharp lines and cold, rigid materials to complement the visual impact of the red-and-black plaid skirt and black platform boots. It was very windy on the day of the shoot, which conveniently saved us the step of intentionally creating dynamic motion. Against the backdrop of blue grating mesh and red steel frameworks, the classic orange twintails and black leather beret were swept by the wind, with the wig strands fluttering to the side and back, matching the sway of the skirt hem perfectly while running.
For the outfit, I chose a combination of an off-white off-the-shoulder sweater and a red-and-black plaid skirt, paired with black platform boots featuring metallic buckles and a black choker. The waist straps and cuff belts easily shifted during large movements, so I adjusted them several times between shots to ensure the fabric folds remained in top shape. Because the skirt itself was short and prone to wardrobe exposure during dynamic movements, the photographer chose specific camera angles. Especially with a low-angle shot where I lifted one leg, this angle maximized leg length while harmonizing with the layered look of the red-and-black plaid skirt to deliver a powerful visual impact.
At the same time, we utilized the overlapping red steel layers to create frame-within-a-frame compositions. In addition to low-angle shots, high-angle top-down perspectives were also used, which made the leg shape look particularly slender when standing on the blue grating. Being an outdoor shoot, shadows and backlighting under strong sunlight were quite pronounced; to ensure accurate facial exposure, I constantly adjusted the angle of my head. The photographer's timing for snapshots was also crucial—such as the moment the lifted leg froze in place, the sharp angles created by the wind blowing the clothing and hair, and the demeanor of looking at the camera while touching the hat brim—all striving to align closer with the character's traits in Neon Genesis Evangelion.
In a scene steeped in industrial flavor, the warm-toned red and cool-toned blue formed a vivid color contrast, truly testing expressive capability in Industrial style photography. The whole photoshoot was physically demanding—maintaining balance standing on one leg on the grid mesh or posing on slopes in platform boots required precise center-of-gravity control. Within these firm, dynamic movements, adjusting my gaze conveyed an intense sense of vitality. The entire photo set avoided overly softened retouching, preserving ambient light and shadow and a sense of weight—a conscious exploration of harmonizing with specific outdoor locations. By the end of the shoot, this look paired with the venue's light-and-shadow contrast showed remarkable character, with all adjustments proceeding smoothly.
