[Kokomi Cosplay] Genshin Impact Fitting Record: Light Pink Twin Buns and White Platform Shoes

Choosing shoes is always the most agonizing step during every Cosplay fitting process. Especially when accessories and garments are already in place, the shoe proportions and styling often dictate the overall quality of the final photos. This time, I tried out the look for the Genshin Impact character Kokomi. To recreate her airy, lively maiden feel, I prepared a complete set of blue-and-white gradient tulle dresses. The upper-body fit of the costume itself is wonderful, featuring a delicate bow decoration on the chest, layered with semi-transparent white flowing tulle on top, and paired with a light pink twin-bun wig—visually very refreshing.

Regarding the footwear and hosiery combination, I actually made two attempts. The first option, as shown in the first picture, paired pure white thigh-high socks with matching white platform high heels. Although white platform shoes can lengthen leg proportions, they put ankle lines to a severe test; if the sock thickness isn't handled carefully during wear, the feet can easily look bulky. I deliberately chose white stockings with a subtle sheer texture, which, under soft indoor light, successfully avoided this major trap. Visually overall, the white shoes blended seamlessly with the fluffy skirt and sheer tulle, keeping the entire outfit immensely clean and imparting an ethereal, fresh-out-of-the-water elegance.

In the second photo, I shifted away from this shoe-and-stocking combo, switching to a barefoot state while wrapping light blue ribbons around my ankles and calves into bow-knot styles. This detailed treatment added a unique airy rhythm on top of the costume's inherent structure, serving as a practical restoration of the leg-strap elements from reference art. Though a simple alternative, visually it brought the look closer to the character's ethereal, unworldly essence. The second picture also includes official illustration reference art for side-by-side comparison, and the level of recreation turned out quite satisfying to me.

For cosplay, fitting and taking a Mirror selfie is a truly enjoyable phase. You can continuously adjust shoulder straps, skirt length, and wig bang curves in front of the mirror. Positioning the phone near chest level, straightening the back, and crossing or slightly extending legs—these poses often do a wonderful job visually lengthening the legs. Especially when wearing white stockings, subtle fabric reflections and joint creases create a captivating pictorial sense in indoor home photography.

To find the most suitable camera angle, I spent quite some time back and forth. Capturing the skirt hem, white stockings, and shoes simultaneously within the frame while maintaining a tidy background without clutter required extra care. Ultimately, I settled on this minimalist backdrop—retaining only a folding chair and off-white wall alongside a cozy rug, allowing the visual focus to concentrate entirely on the character subject and attire.

Changing shoes and styling back and forth twice took considerable physical effort even for a fitting session. Yet when these blue-and-white color schemes, lightweight tulle textures, and twin buns came together, standing before the mirror genuinely felt like crossing dimensions. This sense of immersion brought by a single outfit is probably the very thing that makes cosplay so captivating in the first place.
