Putting on this patent leather uniform for a policewoman look and gripping the prop gun in hand, the overall aura is completely different. This time I'm doing the Marin Kitagawa cosplay as a policewoman, a look I've been highly anticipating ever since I saw the concept art.
The biggest challenge of this outfit is the texture of the patent leather material. To ensure the glossiness looks clean and sharp, I repeatedly checked the garment's surface for dust and wear marks before the shoot. The dark blue uniform jacket paired with a black patent leather miniskirt, along with leather straps, a belt, and the gold badge embellishment on the police cap, makes the overall visual effect highly layered. The physical sensation of wearing it is actually quite stuffy because patent leather isn't breathable; shooting under studio lights for just a few minutes makes it feel slightly hot. However, to restore the character's state, these details are completely acceptable.
In terms of hair and makeup, Marin's signature blonde hair paired with a pink gradient hair tail is highly eye-catching in this look, and the reddish eye makeup helps create a blend of cold elegance and playfulness. To fit the policewoman setting, no overly complex changes were made to the hairstyle, preserving her original lightweight feel while highlighting the character's recognizability. I am quite satisfied with the texture of the makeup, as the highly reflective patent leather in studio shoots naturally requires a sufficiently three-dimensional makeup face to anchor it down.
The set for this shoot was built with an incredible atmosphere, featuring a black gun-rack wall panel, yellow caution tape, and neon light strips surrounding the ground. To coordinate with this lighting environment, there were some slight adjustments when posing. Two different states were tested in the two photos: the first photo shows me standing with a gun, my center of gravity stabilized and legs naturally apart, giving a cool, composed sense of oppression; the second photo is more playful, standing on one leg with the center of gravity on a single leg, showcasing another lively and agile side of Marin Kitagawa's personality, so it doesn't look overly rigid despite holding a gun.
The reflective material on the floor beautifully bounces back the orange and blue neon lights, increasing the frame's color saturation. During the shoot, the hardest part was actually controlling the reflections on the patent leather surface, as a slight oversight would result in large patches of overexposure. This time, cooperating with the photographer, we adjusted the light positions several times and finally found an ideal angle that both showcased the patent leather's texture without making the facial shadows too heavy.
As an enthusiast who frequently shoots anime characters, I've tried many styles in daily life, but this modern tactical style cosplay anime policewoman look has a powerful visual impact, adding a sliver of 2D fantasy on top of character restoration. The tailoring of this outfit is extremely form-fitting, beautifully highlighting the character's body proportions while maintaining a heroic aura. Regarding the overall presentation this time, I am quite satisfied with myself, hoping to showcase this unique charm of Marin Kitagawa in different parallel worlds.
