[Panty Cosplay] Duo Frame at Firefly ACG Expo, Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt Special Gear Deployment

The anime convention photos from the two days of the Firefly ACG Expo are finally out! Doing Panty cosplay and Stocking cosplay with my partner this time can be summed up in one word—exhilarating, though it was indeed exhausting. During the early preparation phase, we were exchanging thoughts with fellow fans in the group, and everyone agreed that the most demanding part of this outfit is that pair of exaggerated silver platform high heels on our feet. Honestly, wearing these shoes to maintain a standing posture and complete a vast array of actions is a massive test for the endurance of your soles and ankles. In this set of photos, we intentionally picked these compositions that completely reveal the lines of the feet and stockings, solely aimed at highlighting this highly recognizable anime gear element while lending more tension to the shooting angles.

Regarding the hairstyles, the blonde twintails and the blue wig with a bow possess excellent texture. Combined with the white feathered wings we wore, they showcase a beautifully clear and transparent luster under the exhibition hall's cool-toned geometric linear lighting. The high-reflection floor of the venue also served as a natural, superb shooting surface; whether standing, squatting, or sitting on the black chairs, it provided highly three-dimensional reflections. Throughout the shooting process, the photographer braved the crowded streams of people at the convention, constantly helping us bypass other convention tourists in the background, eventually finding these few spacious, bright corridors featuring industrial designs.

As for the coordination of props, the combination of the water gun and the long sword heavily tests the positioning and chemistry between the two of us. While striking an upright standing posture, we had to reproduce as closely as possible that confident and slightly flamboyant demeanor from the original work. For example, the combination of a sitting pose and a squatting pose in image four perfectly demonstrates the character height difference and the placement of the props. Meanwhile, the extended posture of the legs makes the transition between thighs, white-and-blue striped stockings, and platform high heels exceptionally eye-catching, which is a major reason why I chose this one as the cover.

The difficulty of duo cosplay lies precisely in the synchronization of expressions and aura between each other. Before the shoot, we repeatedly checked ourselves in the mirror, confirming various micro-expressions and trunk tilt angles. This type of look inherently carries a high degree of extravagance, requiring us to deploy sufficiently confident and composed expressions to suppress the "costumey" feel of the gear; otherwise, it would easily look like playing house. In reality, there were far more passersby and fellow fans who recognized this pair of characters at the venue that day than we expected. Everyone had a great time interacting with us on-site, and some even explicitly approached us to ask how the wings were attached.

As an anime convention photos log, this attempt can be considered a relatively satisfying answer sheet. Not only did the tailoring craftsmanship and shoe proportions hit the replication standards, but what's even more precious are the vivid frames generated through coordination with my partner. The final post-processed texture is also very crisp and clear, without any distorting over-retouching. Nowadays, anime convention photos increasingly lean toward ambient snapshots, but I counter-intuitively feel that this high-definition studio-like feel—which accentuates fine gear details, character proportions, and prop interactions—better matches the temperament of this type of anime work with a hybrid American-Japanese cartoon style.

Thinking back carefully on this exhibition, the lighting on the convention day was constantly unstable, shifting between cloudy and clear. Fortunately, we picked a good timing window to finish capturing our core shots. Overall, this was a challenge filled with joy and absolute professionalism. Shooting this type of subject matter places extremely high demands on the model's own body control and execution of gaze toward the camera lens. Hopefully, during the upcoming convention season, there will be more opportunities to experiment with shoots of this special styling, keeping more diverse character interactions locked within the camera lens.
