[Power cosplay] Chainsaw Man Power Convention Photos Log

The Convention photos from this Beijing Anime Convention are finally sorted out. Prepping the hair and makeup for a character like Power in the summer heat definitely demanded patience, especially with the combination of long straight pink hair and this white nurse dress. To channel Power's signature brand of unhinged, childlike madness, I intentionally intensified the eyeshadow blending, pairing it with crimson contacts to emphasize her uncanny devil nature. The nurse cap adorned with a cross and red horns is easily the most recognizable signature accessory; when shooting, I had to ensure the angle kept the wig from looking too flat.

The venue lighting on the day was quite chaotic, making backdrops prone to blowouts or muddy grays. The photographer and I scouted several corners equipped with overhead spotlights, combining ambient light with our fill gear to produce that moody, cool-toned side-lighting featured in the second frame. The back-view glance over the shoulder in the first frame was a true test of wig texture; long pink synthetic fibers can easily frizz under direct flash, requiring plenty of detangling spray before heading out to maintain that silky, weightless flow.

I also took special care with the costume details. The white dress has a tailored, form-fitting cut, with the hem slightly cinched to accentuate body curves. The long black opera gloves and black thigh-high stockings served as the visual focal points of the ensemble; putting them on required extra care to prevent unsightly indentations along the edges, and the garter straps took several adjustments to sit at the ideal height. Another bold choice was posing barefoot—while the convention floor looked relatively clean, stepping directly on metallic scaffolding and fuzzy floor props was undeniably chilly, though the final shots brim with unmatched atmospheric mood.

For the seated pose in the second photo, I intentionally designed the hand gestures to mimic Power's feral, claw-like combat stances, pairing it with a slightly tilted chin and fierce eye contact so she wouldn't look like just an ordinary girl in a nurse costume. When cosplaying, I always prefer to shape micro-expressions and body language around the character's core persona. Power's traits are inherently contradictory: she possesses the ruthless savagery of the Blood Devil alongside the petulant, blunt innocence of a child. Consequently, I steered clear of overly sweet or cute tropes, opting instead for high-tension visual storytelling with a hint of danger.

Overall, the styling and props avoided unnecessary clutter, staying as faithful to the source material as possible. Coordinating gloves, socks, and barefoot footwear elevated the character's completion. The pace of shooting at a convention is notoriously fast; capturing multiple satisfying frames within a tight timeframe wouldn't have been possible without my photographer's incredible synergy. Taking on this character was a wonderful, thrilling creative challenge, and I look forward to meeting everyone at upcoming conventions with even more exciting roles.
