The focus of this official photoshoot for [Kurumi Tokisaki Cosplay] lies in restoring the character's signature heavy black hair and that striking red heterochromia eye.

This time at the Firefly ACG Expo, Jiu Ling and I completed this group of Kurumi Tokisaki cosplay photo sharing. Since she is a bona fide elf in the setting, her overall temperament cannot be too soft; it needs to carry a bit of that effortless sense of mystery and cold elegance. The most testing part of this styling actually lies in the coordination between the wig and makeup. To highlight the visual focus of the red eye, the bangs must precisely cover the right eye, while the left eye must be completely exposed, which requires highly refined trimming and wearing angles of the wig.

In terms of costume, the black blazer paired with white piped outlines, a white shirt, and a red bow tie, with a sapphire blue pleated skirt on the lower body, creates a strong color contrast. This classic school uniform style is actually very light-absorbing; if it's just flat light, it easily looks flat. Considering this, I intentionally enhanced the light and shadow contrast during shooting and post-processing, especially handling the rim light on the black hair to let the edges of the hair generate a sliver of sharp highlight, thereby clearly accounting for the layers and texture of the hair strands even against a dark-toned background.

The shooting location was in a studio area, where I directly used blue, cool-toned lighting, which can echo the character's seemingly quiet yet actually dangerous temperament inherent to Kurumi Tokisaki. When discussing movements with Jiu Ling, we intentionally avoided overly loud postures, adopting more actions of lying sideways on the carpet, kneeling, and playing with the hair ends in place. For example, in the shot lying on the ground, the body curve combined with the raised foot works with subtle hand movements to reveal a hint of playfulness while retaining the character's cool and detached traits, maintaining visual tension without needing intentional allure.

Post-processing was handled by Jiu Ling and me together. We didn't do excessive skin smoothing, mainly preserving skin texture and makeup details, focusing instead on color correction and light-shadow enhancement. For a cool-toned style, the skin tone needs to be slightly brightened and saturation well-controlled; otherwise, it easily looks dull and spiritless. Plus, the red pupil and lip makeup are inherently the bright spots of the frame; if the overall exposure is too flat, it weakens the visual impact of that splash of red, so separate adjustments were specially made for the brightness and saturation of the red color in post-processing.

In fact, when shooting cosplays at conventions, the environment is usually quite cluttered, making it hard to find a completely clean background. This time, we used a white plush mat combined with a black environment background, forming a highly clean image structure through a large light ratio, focusing the audience's gaze entirely on the figure itself. Putting on this gear, wearing the heavy wig, and letting the gaze look at you through the bangs indeed delivers an immersive feeling as if I truly transformed into that Spirit of Time.

This kind of operation heavily tests patience, where every step from styling and communication to post-processing cannot be sloppy. The cooperation with Jiu Ling was extremely smooth, as she beautifully grasped the character's expression, which I feel is the greatest charm of cosplay. It's not just about putting on the clothes and wearing the wig, but more about capturing that single instant belonging to the character's soul in front of the lens. I hope this group of photos allows everyone to feel this power we want to deliver through this Elf cosplay piece.
