I compiled the convention photos from this Divine Light photoshoot straight away without excessive post-processing, simply aiming to preserve the most authentic blue-gray floor and the distinct light-and-shadow atmosphere unique to convention grounds.
This white-and-gold armor set is actually quite challenging when it comes to wearing coordination. To recreate the character's slender proportions, I deliberately chose platform gold boots—which not only elongate lower-body lines, but visually balance the sharp shoulder armor structure on top. The floating circular halo prop mounted behind the back serves as the visual centerpiece of the entire look; to keep it straight across various poses, the internal support rigging required numerous fine adjustments, and walking around on-site demanded constant awareness of my center of gravity. Yet the moment the full look was put together and I stood in front of the lens, the character's signature cold, distant presence radiated effortlessly.
This time I cosplayed Dongfang Jing in her Divine Light skin (Honor of Kings cosplay). As a female character packed with powerful strength, her outfit features extremely refined tailoring and color palettes. The high-contrast pairing of a black base against white and gold creates rich dimensional layering, which, combined with the instantly recognizable golden forehead ornament, flawlessly conveys her aura of brokenness turned rebirth. In actual shooting, I experimented with standing, half-crouching, and close-up angles to showcase the outfit. While the wide standing shot in Photo 1 better highlights the overall prop and silhouette contours, I specifically picked Photo 2's half-crouch as the cover. This angle perfectly reveals the suit's draping quality along with the connecting lines between tights and golden boots; combined with the gripping hand gesture, it strikes a balance between combat agility and sculpted aesthetics. In composition and dynamics, this shot carries the best sense of balance—centered subject without hugging the edges, with just the right amount of visual tension.
Convention photography venues are crowded and chaotic, so capturing clean, crisp shots in such an environment relies heavily on the photographer's quick-draw snapshots. The half-crouching photo was actually caught during a quick turn: the foot's pivot point aligned right with the waist twist, while the back halo and hand props formed a fantastic angle inside the viewfinder. To ensure crisp image clarity, the photographer set a high lighting ratio on location; special thanks to the event photographer for patiently adjusting reflector umbrellas for me repeatedly. Compared to studio work, these event photo delivery shots with raw environmental backgrounds feel much more grounded, offering an authentic, immersive realness. The garment fabric also felt sturdier in practice than expected, ensuring that bold dynamic poses wouldn't generate unsightly wrinkles—truly ideal for photography.
I chose this character because I've always loved the design language of Divine Light—its blend of crisp coldness and divine radiance aligns seamlessly with Dongfang Jing's sharp, decisive skill mechanics. To capture this temperament perfectly, I steered hair and makeup toward crisp precision, avoiding excessive clutter to highlight cleanliness and sharpness. As I curated this photo set, looking back at those moments running around on-site assembling props felt like a test of physical stamina and mutual understanding behind every frame—especially installing and detaching that massive halo prop behind my back, which took considerable time each iteration. Yet seeing the final photos successfully capture both character traits and costume details brings a deeply rewarding sense of achievement. Writing this down brings back memories of coordinating poses with the photographer on location—a truly unforgettable shooting experience.
