This shoot took place within a dense bamboo grove, where ambient sunlight filtered softly through the bamboo leaves to create an exceptionally pleasing play of light and shadow. Harmonizing with the bamboo scenery, the garment textures showed up with remarkable crispness beneath the sun. The sleeveless top in vibrant grass green features a modernized cheongsam-style collar trimmed with soft blue and white piping, while the golden jacquard prints across the chest and waist lent rich visual depth on camera. The teardrop-shaped keyhole cutout at the neckline is another favorite detail of mine, preserving the character's signature look while introducing visual lightness. For hair styling, the oversized bright-green ribbon bow perched at the crown serves as a primary highlight; multiple internal stiffeners were used to keep it perfectly structured. Straight black hair styled with blunt bangs, complemented by vivid green contact lenses and reddish-pink eyeshadow, leaned into a porcelain-doll anime aesthetic that sharpened my gaze.
The greatest challenge—and the most exhilarating part—of the session was the colossal polearm weapon prop. Composed of a long black haft, broad blue-and-white metallic blades, and sweeping blue pennants draped beneath, the entire prop carried serious heft. Posing with it demanded constant awareness of my center of gravity. In Photo 1, for example, I opted for an advancing kinetic posture: resting the haft across my shoulder with my left hand while thrusting my black-gloved right hand forward toward the lens. The photographer leveraged wide-angle perspective distortion to exaggerate the outstretched hand, generating intense visual punch so that bodily tension conveyed the character's power despite the prop's weight. Photo 2 adopted a comparatively static stance—shouldering the weapon horizontally with my left hand gripping the shaft, right hand on my hip, and eyes locked forward onto the lens. This pose cleanly showcased the full ensemble, including the green arm sleeves paired with black leather gloves.
The color clash of green and blue in this costume is intensely eye-catching, blending seamlessly into the bamboo backdrop to evoke an aesthetic synthesis of nature and fantasy. Sun Shangxiang's persona is defined by feisty tsundere pride and fierce combat readiness, so I poured self-assured decisiveness into every stance and glance. Stalking across mossy stone paths, listening to wind rustle through bamboo canopies, and swinging this heavy weapon made every pose feel like prepping for an actual battlefield engagement. Though my arms grew sore from hoisting the prop, seeing the daylight ripple over the jacquard fabric to capture her resolute yet spirited demeanor made every bit of fatigue thoroughly worthwhile.
