Day 2 of CICF2026 was packed to the brim! After running around the venue all day, my legs were practically giving out, but seeing the camera roll and Polaroid films overflowing with great shots gave me an immense sense of accomplishment. My schedule for this Anime convention was super tight. Not only did I head over to the Backlight Avenue to soak in that legendary supermodel presence and capture tons of satisfying photos, but the lighting and environment there truly make it a photo sanctuary. Any casual stance instantly looked cinematic, though it certainly tested the photographer's backlight handling and fill-light techniques—thankfully, the final results turned out fantastic!

What delighted me most at this Anime convention was catching the stage show by 午前4時 again. The live atmosphere was unreal; every time I watch their performance, I'm swept up by their overwhelming passion and energy—truly an indispensable recharging station at the convention. Right after the show, I dove straight into the day's Polaroid meet-and-greets. Polaroids are a true love-hate relationship: the failure rate can be heartbreakingly high, where slightly off lighting or a momentary lapse in facial expression ruins an entire shot. Fortunately, through constant trial and error, I took a huge step forward in taming the Polaroid camera this time and landed what was arguably my favorite instant shot ever. The distinctive vintage palette and tangible immediacy of Polaroid film are irreplaceable by digital cameras, especially when gathering with fellow fans to doodle and write notes on them afterward—that interactive joy is an experience unique to an Anime convention.

I brought three characters to life this time: Kafū Chino, Hoto Kokoa, and Golden Darkness. The sailor suit outfits for Kafū Chino and Hoto Kokoa were outrageously adorable; the blue-dominated palette looked wonderfully refreshing amidst the crowded, noisy convention hall. The sailor design inherently radiates youthful vigor, which, paired with plush toy props, resulted in an extraordinarily high photo yield. When shooting, I made sure my facial expressions aligned with that natural airheaded, innocent moe charm—no need for complicated movements, just holding the plushie or gently resting a cheek on my hand captured that soft, sweet presence. Golden Darkness, on the other hand, was a complete shift in style: black attire paired with golden twin tails, projecting a cool, tsundere aura where the intensity in my eyes and poses needed to be much sharper. For her set, I chose a slightly darker backdrop to make the golden hair and costume textures stand out, leveraging lighting contrast to add dimensional depth to the composition.

Different characters demand distinct emotional deliveries and body language, which is precisely the most captivating part of cosplay photography—stepping into completely different lives every single time. Even though every convention day is exhausting, meeting so many beloved characters, capturing stunning photos, and sharing joy with friends makes every bit of effort worthwhile. Packing up my gear and sorting the photo prints, I can't wait to see everyone again at the next Anime convention!
