I finally got to wear Vanilla's stage outfit at this Firefly ACG Expo. The blue and white checkered elements paired with the fluffy cat ears and long tail look refreshing yet slightly playful overall. The wig is a specially trimmed silver-white, paired with blue-gray colored contacts, hoping to recreate that sweet yet not overly sugary vibe. The costume has quite a few details, like the bow at the collar, the blue heart-shaped buttons on the side of the waist, and the layers of the skirt hem, all of which I tried my best to find angles to showcase during the shoot. The combination of white stockings and white high heels makes the leg lines look cleaner, and the lace trim on the over-knee socks adds a bit of a girlish charm.

For the outdoor shoot, we chose the roadside near the exhibition hall. The crosswalk on the road and the nearby traffic cones unexpectedly became great framing elements, forming a cool-to-warm contrast with the blue and white color scheme. The weather was slightly overcast during the shoot, but the skin texture actually looked better under the soft light. In post-processing, we mainly adjusted the overall brightness to make the blue appear more translucent. Although this outfit looks lightweight, the layers of the skirt hem and the structure around the waist actually took a lot of thought—especially that big tail, which needed to be secured tightly while still looking natural, and I had to be careful not to let it snag on the clothes while walking.

The convention day was packed with people, so it was truly not easy to find a relatively clean background to shoot this set of photos. As a cosplayer, every time I portray a character, I hope to get as close as possible to the character's inherent aura. I tried to find the right state for Vanilla's well-behaved yet slightly mischievous vibe through my expressions and hand movements. For instance, in the sitting photo, slightly turning my body and lifting my hand beautifully brings out the lazy feel of a catgirl cosplay. This stage outfit isn't as cumbersome as a traditional maid outfit, but it puts more of a test on the harmony of the tailoring and color coordination; after putting it on, I felt much more lightweight. I'm very happy to leave behind these convention photos, recording my own wedding-like dedication, understanding, and interpretation of the character.
