The shooting process was physically much more demanding than expected, particularly the final dynamic jump capture. To achieve that lively, energetic stage jump, we repeatedly tested various angles and jumping timings. This pose places high demands on core strength and facial expression management; after over ten consecutive jumps, my legs were aching and I was utterly exhausted. However, reviewing camera playbacks and spotting those naturally captured frames brought an immensely satisfying thrill. After all, when shooting dynamic idol themes, standing poses often lack soul—only dynamic leaping shots truly honor the spirit of the μ's stage group.
Regarding Hanayo's character traits, she leans towards being reserved and shy within the group, yet quietly strives toward her idol dreams. Thus, when interpreting her expressions, I avoided overemphasizing outgoing energy, focusing instead on a gentle, devoted look in her gaze. My blush application utilized an atmospheric soft pink, while the lip shade was a glossy pale pink to align facial aesthetics with Hanayo's refreshing aura. For eye color, I selected violet-blue contact lenses, which add a touch of dreaminess and softness compared to straightforward earthy tones.
I also did my homework on styling the wig: this layered golden short wig required leaving sufficient bang density to frame the face contours smoothly. To prevent the wig from restricting motion, intricate internal pinning was secured at the back. As for the plush toy perched on my head, to ensure it wouldn't slip during wide movements, we attached subtle snap fasteners—maintaining a natural look while saving the hassle of constant readjustments. Adding white gloves infused additional stage flair, complementing hand gestures to convey dynamic interactivity.
The color scheme of this uniform dress is delightfully crisp, flattering skin tone beautifully. This choice effectively minimized glare from uniform fabrics while softening the ambient atmosphere to complement Hanayo's innate cuteness. In terms of pose details, alongside the dynamic jump captures, we included quieter interactive poses—such as cradling the plushie in my arms or supporting it with one hand—to reveal the character's gentle everyday side. Costume coordination offered rich visual layering, from the inner collared shirt to the outer uniform. Given the Moe-style outfit, facial expressions required precise calibration—striking a balance between over-sweetness and aloof coldness. A fun behind-the-scenes anecdote: the hair accessory was considerably heavier than expected, requiring tightly fastened hair clips to prevent tilting during runs and jumps, adding a modest behind-the-scenes effort.
Reflecting on today's photoshoot—from intricate costume dressing to fine-tuning hair accessories and plushie positioning, culminating in physically demanding motion captures—it was a painful yet deeply joyful journey.
