Shooting Zenless Zone Zero's Hoshimi Miyabi in the studio today, the theme revolved around Section Chief Miyabi immersed in her training regimen. Before heading out in the morning, I stood before the mirror smoothing the wig—long straight black hair featuring a side braid that demanded sleek, silky layers. The massive black beast ears perched atop the crown are the very soul of this styling; to keep them upright and flush with the contours of my head, I spent substantial time adjusting the hairnet and bobby pins, allowing the plush texture to look impeccably lifelike on camera.

Donning the gear was a massive project. A crisp white collared shirt served as the base, tied with a black necktie, layered beneath a vibrant blue jacket whose sharp tailoring and structured fabric, accented by metallic buttons and zippers, completely transformed my presence once put on. The diagonal yellow utility strap and black leather chest harness infused sharp tactical flair; each buckle not only had to snap into place accurately, but also needed fine-tuning for the snuggiest fit against my body. Slipping on the forearm bracer and fingerless gloves on my left hand slightly restricted joint mobility, yet this constraint actually helped me channel a grounded sense of power when clasping the blade.

The prop katana carried genuine heft, demanding core engagement when held with both hands to remain rock-steady. Today was shot against a pure-white studio backdrop with clean, translucent lighting, where the vivid blue of the jacket and the black tactical gear formed sharp chromatic contrast. I explored several emotional states: the first shot featured eyes closed with a subtle downward tilt, aiming to convey Section Chief Miyabi's serene, restrained contemplation during training—poised to draw the blade at a split second's notice; the second shot looked straight into the lens, demanding a piercing edge in the gaze where the eye makeup details could be clearly captured.

Communicating with the photographer, we adjusted the seated pose multiple times. Because I was kneeling seiza-style on the floor, we had to manage the drape of the jacket hems while keeping my upper body upright, preventing the heavy layers from looking bulky before the lens. Gripping the hilt with both hands seemed straightforward, yet fine-tuning wrist angles was essential to highlight the bracer's mechanical edges and the hilt's textures. The red racing stripes and gray modular parts across the armor pieces stood out vividly against the white background, and honoring these nuanced details was what mattered to me most.

Cosplaying combat-oriented characters demands immense stamina and focused attention. Shifting poses each time meant moving the heavy katana along, while the bulky armor and wig put noticeable strain on my neck. Yet reviewing the playback on the monitor and seeing the light, shadows, and fine details preserved so cleanly made all the preliminary prep work feel thoroughly rewarding. As Section Chief Miyabi, this laser-focused, disciplined composure contrasts with my everyday demeanor, making it a thrilling creative journey to step into another persona through cosplay and feel her unwavering calm in the face of duty. Stripping off the gear and wig at the end, I felt instantly lighter. That wraps up today's work diary, eagerly looking forward to the final photos and retouching.
