This photoshoot project for Saigyouji Yuyuko is undoubtedly the most memorable set for me recently. First of all, I want to express my deepest gratitude to Teacher Yu (@-是珚不是烟-) for her dedicated efforts in hair, makeup, styling, and post-processing. Her mastery of color control and attention to scene construction details were spot on, and the communication during the shoot was highly efficient, making the whole experience smooth and comfortable. When planning this photoshoot booking, I kept thinking about how to present Lady Yuyuko's gorgeous, intricate aristocratic elegance combined with the lightness and ethereal nature unique to a ghost. This dress incorporates a massive amount of blue, white, and pink gradients. The extensive use of lace and ruffles really tests the cut of the garment and the textural quality in post-processing. Teacher Yu deliberately differentiated between warm and cool tones in the lighting, which, paired with the on-site Japanese shoji doors, oil-paper umbrella, and well-arranged hydrangea and cherry blossom scenery, maxed out that dreamy and profound atmosphere hanging between life and death. At the shoot, we used props like a folding fan and a tobacco pipe. These small props added a strong sense of narrative when striking poses, providing more interactive focal points for the frame. Especially in the final half-body composition with the folding fan, the exact moment the light hit, the expression in the eyes and the layering of the costume were perfectly on point. Cosplay is more than just putting on clothes; it's about getting closer to the character's soul within a limited environment. It is incredibly meaningful to have such a set of photos to record my understanding of Saigyouji Yuyuko.
