[Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay] Blue-Violet Gradient Dress & Geta Sandals: Pure White Studio Shoot Record

The theme for today's studio shoot was Saigyouji Yuyuko from Touhou Project. This outfit possesses extraordinary structural layering, taking considerable time just to put on. From the innermost pannier to each exterior lace tier, alongside the halter criss-cross bodice and detached sleeves, each element had to be smoothed layer by layer. The blue-to-violet gradient fabric interweaves with deep blue stitched satin ribbons, requiring the broad waist sash to be laced tightly to define the overall silhouette. To uphold that blooming flower-bud volume at the hem, I actually stacked two petticoats underneath, which meant sitting down and standing up required an assistant beside me to help maneuver the skirts.

The wig is a vivid bright pink, trimmed with neat blunt bangs and softly curled ends; throughout the shoot, we continuously used conditioning mist and a steel comb to ward off static and flyaways. Makeup prioritized eyeshadow and lashes: reddish-brown eye contouring with deepened outer corners, paired with circle lenses. The blush was applied slightly heavier so facial features wouldn't wash out under the high-key, pure white illumination. The folding fan in hand was a selected prop whose motifs echoed the deep tonal palette of the gown.

The chunky wooden-soled sandals on my feet carried noticeable weight, featuring deep blue printed uppers and gold buckles. While matching the overall aesthetic seamlessly, holding poses like lifting the skirt or dropping to one knee demanded engaged core strength to prevent twisting an ankle. The studio featured a pure white backdrop with high-key lighting, demanding absolute fidelity in capturing the fabric's tactile quality. Had the light been too flat, the tiered lace and ruffles would have merged into a muddy block; the photographer constantly adjusted the key and rim lights to ensure the subtle gradient between blue and purple translated crisply.

When executing skirt-lifting poses, my fingers had to firmly spread the outer layers while keeping the gesture light so my arm muscles wouldn't appear strained on camera. We explored standing, crouching, and seated angles, but my personal favorite remains standing with crossed legs while lifting the hem with both hands—it best showcases the asymmetrical cut of the gown and the cascading lace streamers behind. The garments came with countless intricate accessories, demanding that every lace motif and ribbon angle be meticulously aligned before shooting. Every time I wrap a heavily crafted outfit like this, the exhaustion of garment care is matched only by the deep pride of seeing the final frames. Controlling every costume detail and channeling the character's holistic presence were truly the most rewarding challenges of this shoot.
