The moment the studio set was finalized for this shoot, I was instantly captivated by the visual dialogue between purple-blue tones and pastel pink.
The outfit uses pure white as its foundational canvas, elevated by exceptionally intricate tailoring. The high-standing collar and puff sleeves evoke a vintage Victorian silhouette, while the dark contrasting necktie and gilded waist borders produce striking dimensional tiers under studio strobes. The heaviest component is undeniably the exterior transparent iridescent holographic capelet; trailing across the floor, its specular reflections were breathtaking, though it demanded constant readjustment to prevent unsightly creasing. The headpiece incorporated multiple structural elements—gilded fan crests, azure ribbons, and beast-ear styling. While undeniably ornate, wearing it for hours left my neck noticeably sore. Pairing medium-length pastel pink hair with matching pink contact lenses created a harmoniously unified chromatic palette before the lens.
During shooting, the scene was rich with visual elements: balloons, Roman neoclassical pillars, and expansive arrangements of pink blossoms. Shiyue, the photographer, encouraged me to relax into the space so as not to be overpowered by the dense props. For the seated floor setup, the goal was to elongate leg lines naturally with hands folded gently; the reclining backward shot was deceptively challenging—requiring intense lumbar engagement to support my torso while making the upward arm reach appear completely effortless. Walking while lifting the skirt hemline required calibrated footwork to make the fabric flare dynamically without appearing stiff. Because the floor surface was reflective, light angles were paramount; the slightest misdirection would bounce distracting spill light across my face.
The set dressing at Zhengzhou Shiyue Experience Center felt fresh and spacious; multi-prop studio shoots often suffer from restricted focal depth, but this space provided ample breathing room. To capture four distinct angles, we repeatedly repositioned the lighting heads and balloon clusters. Before each shutter actuation, we verified that the skirt folds were aligned for optimal prismatic light refraction.
The color grade leaned subtly toward a dreamy, ethereal aesthetic, prioritizing the authentic tactile texture of the fabrics without aggressive skin-smoothing to preserve visual realism. Retouching the iridescent skirt panels required careful protection of specular highlights to prevent them from looking synthetic or plasticky. This studio marathon was genuinely demanding on physical stamina—navigating heavy textile layers while projecting weightless grace—yet beholding the rich, grounded texture of the final deliverables made every moment worthwhile.
