This time I cosplayed Ibuki Suika from Touhou Project. To capture the traits of this little Oni king, I specially chose a slightly vintage backdrop of white walls, gray tiles, and green pines. Combined with the soft light of an overcast day, it makes the blue-violet tones on the character appear more serene. The black horns on her head, the hanging blue tassels, and the giant purple gourd covered in paper charms in her hand are the key highlights of this look. The texture of the wine gourd is very well-done and feels heavy in hand. Combined with the iron chains and metal balls on her ankles, it makes a crisp clanking sound when walking, adding a touch of dynamic realism to the entire character.

During the shoot, we chose several different setups, such as resting my chin in my hands while sitting on a large rock, lifting the gourd over my head, or leaning against a pavilion pillar—all to express her temperament of being lazy and casual yet carrying a touch of mysterious power. This costume has quite a few layers: a white blouse paired with a deep purple skirt. The red bow at the collar and the ruffles at the cuffs raise the visual center of gravity, which, paired with the long straight orange hair, creates a clear color contrast without looking cluttered. In terms of props, besides the gourd, the blue square box and gold sphere on the ground are also key accessories. When positioning them, we paid attention to their connection with the iron chains to ensure continuous lines in the camera frame.

Since it was an outdoor location shoot, we didn't use any extra high-power strobes under natural light, so the transition in the shadow areas is quite natural, making the skin texture look closer to reality. In post-processing, I only slightly adjusted the color temperature to make the overall atmosphere a bit cooler, which better fits the quiet, serene feel of the Oni race. Additionally, the character of Suika herself comes with a hearty spirit of "drinking big gulps and eating big chunks of meat," so in terms of posing guidance, we tried to avoid the stiffness of overly staged poses. Instead, we used relaxed postures like propping the chin with a hand or casually crossing legs, making her look like she was truly resting. The photographer's candid capturing rhythm was controlled very well, selecting the most relaxed state from several continuous shots. If fellow cosplayers want to challenge this character, I suggest paying extra attention to the weight of the gourd and chains, as well as how the headpieces are fixed, so you can keep the styling intact while moving.

I'm really happy to have brought out Suika's atmosphere together with the photographer this time. Although bringing so many props was a bit tedious, the final results are well worth the preparation effort.
