The styling of Azur Lane's Pearl brought to this comic con has an overall tone of a fallen angel from a magic castle. To showcase this sense of contrast, I put a lot of effort into the details of the costume. The black lace camisole on the upper body features complex crisscross strapped hollow-outs across the chest and waist-abdomen area; this design lengthens the waistline proportions while wonderfully flattering the body shape. Compared to conventional fully-covered outfits, this cut, blending a touch of techwear and gothic style, fits the body contours more closely when walking. The semi-transparent asymmetric sheer long skirt worn over it is the highlight of the entire ensemble. The skirt hem's edge is sewn with fine black lace trim, and the high-slit design perfectly reveals the leg lines completely when standing or walking. To prevent accidental exposure and make walking around the convention easier, I intentionally paired it with high-textured black flat-corner base shorts underneath.
The prop portion is what I most want to share. The bright pink geometric floating halo on top was cut and polished from lightweight PVC sheets, with meticulous chamfered edges crafted into sharp protruding shapes, making it both lightweight and commanding when worn on the head. The pure white wings on my back look massive, but internally they actually use EVA foam as a skeleton, with feathers individually cut out in sharp shapes and pasted on. Although the wingspan is quite large, the weight is relatively well-controlled, avoiding excessive burden on the shoulders. However, when walking around the venue, one still needs to constantly keep distance from people to prevent the wings from brushing against others.
During the convention photoshoot, light and shadow had a particularly massive impact on this black-and-white color-blocked costume. I chose a slightly darker background area in the venue, utilizing overhead spotlights and strobes to illuminate the subject. The pitch-black lace and sheer fabric reveal their material textures under strong light, while the white wings act like reflector boards, softly bouncing light onto the side of the face and arms, greatly enhancing the stereoscopic sense of the frame. This styling requires portraying that somewhat aloof and detached temperament of a fallen angel, so in body movements, I tried to let my arms hang naturally or gently pinch the lace at the cuffs, locking my gaze straight into the lens, complemented by red circle lenses to intensify that cool vibe. If taking a sitting pose, I would choose to cross my legs, fully displaying the slender feel of the legs utilizing the high-slit skirt hem.
Walking around in this outfit at the comic con definitely yielded a very high head-turn rate, especially with the giant white wings being extreme eye-catchers. When many photography mentors came over for scheduled shoots, I would proactively communicate poses with them—such as utilizing snapshots during movement to display the dynamic beauty of the fluttering skirt, or sitting on a high stool and leaning my center of gravity backward to visually elongate leg length. The fabric itself has excellent drape, requiring no deliberate arrangement of the skirt hem to achieve a wonderful effect. The venue lighting is rather chaotic, so I would suggest photographers try to avoid the dense crowds in the background, utilizing a large aperture to blur the background and locking the visual focus entirely on my black-and-white color-blocked attire.
