[Luo Xiaohei cosplay] The Legend of Hei 2 Daily Selfie Record

Yesterday, I went to an outdoor location shoot with my group for this character. Taking advantage of some free time over the weekend, I pulled out my phone and took a few behind-the-scenes selfies to give everyone following this shoot a sneak peek. Since the final photos haven't been edited yet, I could only use phone selfies to document the most raw, direct moments, resulting in this set of photos you see here.

This time, I cosplayed Luo Xiaohei from The Legend of Hei 2. Styling the white wig was genuinely time-consuming—the round hair bun on top and the black beast ears hanging on both sides required repeated adjustments to ensure they looked plush, fluffy, and stayed securely in place. Putting in the green contact lenses instantly brought the character's soul to life. Both eyelashes and eyebrows were rendered in bright white to harmonize with the hair color, creating a very clean and translucent aesthetic. Outfit-wise, without overly complicated garments, I went directly with a basic black T-shirt paired with green fingerless arm warmers matching the ears, delivering a vibrant streetwear vibe. In fact, the simpler the clothing, the more it tests the accuracy of the Cosplay makeup and accessories; fortunately, preparations this time were thorough.

Regarding comments where people often say "the left profile is okay, but the right profile is stunning," it's honestly not modesty—under certain angles, the facial bone structure really does appear much smoother. When shot from the right side, the contour of the eye socket and the little white dot on the forehead look especially symmetrical and cute. Therefore, during selfies, I consciously look for the most flattering camera angles and lighting. Photo 1, which features the kitchen background, hit just the right angle, and combined with the phone's portrait mode blur, the overall look feels very comfortable. Photo 2 features a more playful gesture; even though the toilet is visible in the background, this captures an authentic, unpretentious slice of daily life.

This was also a point discussed with the photography team—to stay as close as possible to the original's "innocent and cute" demeanor. Instead of heavy eyeshadow, I skillfully used green contact lenses and white eyeshadow highlights to give the eye area a dimensional look. The white eyebrows were actually carefully drawn stroke by stroke using matte white eyeshadow and cosmetic glue, requiring precise control over pressure and shape—too thick would look rigid, while too thin wouldn't match the character. Throughout the shoot, even while pressing the shutter myself, maintaining lively eyes and expressions was essential to preserve the overall atmosphere. A plain poker face would make the photos look like a mannequin, stripping away the character's innate spirit. So during selfies, I kept myself as naturally relaxed as possible; whether slightly tilting my head or raising a hand to pose, everything was done spontaneously. What surprised me most when reviewing the unedited shots the next day was that wearing this grayish-white wig actually makes the face look noticeably smaller, and the overall clean translucency was deeply satisfying.

Looking at the background, you can tell we were shooting inside an apartment or homestay-like venue. The natural light wasn't overwhelmingly strong, but in the afternoon, light streaming through the kitchen window and hallway fell across my face, rendering the skin tone very even. I also noticed that the contrast between everyday outfits and character styling is particularly amusing—one second you're making meme faces for selfies, and the next you're pretending to be serious while reviewing unedited shots. This sense of authenticity that bridges the distance with the audience is, in my opinion, one of the greatest joys that cosplay brings to daily life.

That being said, to achieve satisfying results, wigs, contacts, and accessories are all indispensable, and immersing oneself in the character's personality is a truly enjoyable process. In this group shoot, everyone had clear roles and worked with high efficiency. Despite the slightly warm weather, we completed the shoot with great synergy. This spirit of teamwork truly showed how passionately everyone loves this community.
