[Elysia Cosplay] Dreamy pink wedding dress at Hangzhou Dreamland

This Elysia Cosplay pink wedding dress styling is the most intricate and physically demanding convention photo gear I have ever worn so far. In order to achieve the ideal effect in the complex venue environment of the Hangzhou Dreamland comic convention, a lot of effort was put into costume adjustments and shooting coordination beforehand.
Let's talk about the details of this costume first. The overall main color tone is low-saturation cherry blossom pink paired with pure white lace. The upper body features an off-the-shoulder design, and the sleeve covers are spliced from three different layers of lace, with soft mesh sewn along the edges. To support the huge train skirt, I added bone support inside the petticoat to ensure that the skirt could maintain a fluffy arc when walking and spinning. On the white transparent overlay veil covering the outer layer, three-dimensional white butterfly appliqués are sewn in an orderly fashion. This overlay veil is the soul of the entire set of photos; when it lifts with the wind, the butterfly appliqués seem to float in the frame, creating a lightweight visual illusion. The crown on the head is woven from feathers, rhinestones, and pearls, and is quite heavy, requiring multiple bobby pins to be firmly fixed to the wig when wearing. The wig is a floor-length pink gradient, and I deliberately increased the puffiness of the top of the head during styling, weaving a few strands of white hair on both sides to fit the overall dreamy and gorgeous setting. In terms of props, the pink rose bouquet is paired with pearl chains, perfectly echoing the overall lace style.
The difficulty of shooting convention photos lies in controlling the environment. The overhead lighting inside the Hangzhou Dreamland exhibition hall is very messy, with cool-white spotlights hitting the dark grey steel frame structure, creating a very strong contrast. In order to highlight the character under such circumstances, the photographer and I discussed and decided to use a wide-aperture lens to blur the background as much as possible, while using a reflector in front to fill in light and enhance facial brightness. This processing method creates a great cool-warm contrast between the cool-toned background and the character's soft pink-and-white tones, making the composition richer in layers.
Capturing ethereal moments is actually the biggest challenge. The long dreamy veil and skirt require wind power or large-scale physical movements to fly up. In order to capture the depth of the floating veils, I tried many different veil-swinging strengths and body-turning angles. The final glancing back in the finished photos not only required controlling core stability, but also maintaining a steady focus of the gaze. The entire styling is very restricted during actual walking; the huge skirt constantly trips the feet, and one hand must hold the front hem while the other holds the bouquet, which is a considerable test of physical fitness.
Although convention photos are limited by the environment and cannot be as meticulously crafted as studio shoots, the vitality sparked by on-the-spot adaptability and light collisions is the unique charm of convention photos. Afterwards, I will continue to optimize action details, striving to bring an even more perfect state next time.
