This Identity V Tomie Halloween feature set is finally meeting everyone. Speaking of the contrast between Figure 2 and Figure 3, this emotional transition was actually intentionally designed during the shoot. In Figure 3, I am holding a retro brown leather suitcase standing in front of a red velvet sofa, with a proper standing posture, hands crossed, paired with long straight black hair and a white headband, looking like a quiet, waiting mysterious visitor with a hint of obedience and restraint. But come Figure 2, the style abruptly shifts as I sit directly on the retro long dining table, legs slightly crossed, with the red tie echoing the red velvet tablecloth, and my gaze turning even more disdainful and cold. This state switch from well-behaved to oppressive is precisely meant to showcase Tomie's unique and elusive trait. The most charming part of the character Tomie lies in her coexistence of beauty and danger. To recreate this feeling, I especially emphasized the signature red tear mark under the eye in the makeup, paired with black blunt bangs, long hair, and a slightly pale base makeup, creating a non-human cool elegance. The eye makeup part reduced color blending, focusing on elongating the eye shape and creating translucent catchlights in the eyes to make the gaze look deep and hollow. In terms of clothing, this classic black fitted suit, white shirt paired with a bright red tie, although seemingly daily in style, immediately presents a retro yet eerie atmosphere under the intense red ambient lighting. The tailoring of the jacket nicely outlines the shoulder lines, and the short skirt paired with white mid-calf socks and black platform leather shoes retains a hint of a girl's texture within the dark gothic baseline. The choice of shooting location is crucial for the photo output. The red, black, and gold color scheme of this venue perfectly matches the anticipated dark manor style. Whether it's the retro mirror with gold carved frames, the dining table covered with a red tablecloth and set with a golden teapot and goblets, or the cross and red velvet curtains in the background, they greatly enrich the layering of the frame. Against the backdrop of these props, even simple standing or sitting postures can convey a strong narrative sense. For example, in Figure 4, sitting cross-legged on the table holding a silver fork, paired with a stern expression, maxes out the dangerous vibe. In action guidance, to capture Tomie's aloofness, the key lies in the stretching of the limbs and the restraint of the gaze. Avoid overly trivial movements, and try to make use of props at hand, such as gently stroking the mirror surface, resting the chin on one hand, or casually toying with a fork. The line of sight does not need to deliberately cater to the lens; looking straight ahead or slightly downward to maintain a high-and-mighty sense of detachment is enough. The use of light and shadow is also extremely critical. The photographer utilized the red light source in the environment and localized warm profile lighting to darken the surrounding environment, concentrating the light on the face and limb lines, which not only highlighted the skin texture but also cast a movie-like retro filter over the entire frame. Standing at the boundary between the pure black suit and the dark red background, the temperament of the whole person is set off exceptionally vividly. The Halloween atmosphere is thus firmly captured amidst the intertwined red light-and-shadow and dark attire. Every time the shutter is clicked, it is a reinterpretation of the character, and I hope everyone will like this work full of contrast and storytelling.
