[Waraku Chise Cosplay] Summer beach in Blue Archive, an encounter with splashes and seashells

Putting on this blue-and-white striped sailor swimsuit, attaching those signature curved red horns, and grabbing the beach ball and book instantly made me feel transported to the summer beach of Hyakkiyako. This shoot was held in shallow water in the afternoon, where direct sunlight shone down through seawater so clear you could see sand patterns underneath. What made me happiest was finding several tiny seashells scattered on the beach, which I incorporated directly into the framing—holding a small seashell up against the sky made the entire image feel much brighter and cuter.

The outfit actually packed many details, such as blue ties on the collar, a small white pouch on the side waist, and wrist guards—each item designed to recreate the character playing casually at the seaside. Winds were particularly strong during shooting, blowing the wig into a slightly messy style that actually added a breezy, natural feel. My favorite is the shot lying on the wet beach, where water reflections caught the blue sky and character silhouettes, with my leg angle adjusted slightly to make overall lines look more elongated and relaxed. Holding the short black staff in hand, paired with a subtle upturned smirk, captured a lazy yet playful demeanor that I was quite satisfied with.

Regarding props, that red crab plush toy totally stole the spotlight—placing it on top of my head made me feel like a walking marine creature. Holding the giant pink-white-blue beach ball required trying several stances to maintain balance, ultimately settling on a slightly bent-knee pose for greater dynamic energy. Cool seawater wetting my ankles felt exceptionally refreshing, immersing me deeper into this summer character mood.

Preparation before and after shooting took roughly two hours; just adjusting the placement of those red horns took repeated fine-tuning, as a crooked angle would make the look appear silly. Fortunately, natural lighting helped tremendously without needing heavy reflector boards, capturing skin texture and crisp outfit whites with beautiful translucency. Adding hexagonal halo and bubble special effects in post-production echoed original character lore elements, giving the entire set a dreamy summer filter aesthetic.

For this location shoot, I specifically brought waterproof shoes, but ended up walking barefoot in the sand for a long time; fine sand sticking to my feet felt slightly ticklish yet deeply authentic. I believe the charm of Anime cosplay lies in pulling 2D characters into 3D real-life settings, reinterpreting her day with genuine ocean breezes, beaches, and sunlight. Without complex poses or elaborate sets, this simple, clean blue-and-white palette against an endless horizon proves the most enduringly pleasing to look at.

While organizing the photos, I noticed each frame carried a unique charm—the beach ball shot radiated summer vitality, the lying posture felt gentle and lazy, while the side profile holding up a seashell held a touch of anticipation. During shooting breaks, I picked up a few small seashells to craft a handmade hanging ornament later as a physical keepsake from this shoot. Immersing oneself entirely into an outfit and location is truly joyful. I hope everyone viewing these photos can feel this refreshing summer vibe, as if stepping onto the beach to splash water and play in the sand right alongside the character.
