[Remilia cosplay] Touhou Project's Never-Fading Crimson

I've finally sorted out a few decent photos from the shoot featuring this red-and-white Western-style outfit and exaggerated large red hat. For those who know this character, seeing the "search suggestion" result under the post was actually pretty funny—I was honestly amused by that "Ayanami Rei modification" result at first, but today we are actually cosplaying the vampire mistress Remilia cosplay from Touhou Project. Trying to recreate her mysterious yet tsundere aura in an everyday indoor environment was a really fun process.

The tailoring of this dress is very refined. The overall structure is built on white sheer gauze and lace, complemented by large patches of red accents. Speaking first of the neckline and halter portion, the red lace halter tie sits just right without pinching the neck. Combined with a wide off-the-shoulder ruffle design, it visually highlights collarbones and necklines; however, because the inner layer features a thick anti-slip lining, wearing the physical garment really tests balance, as shoulder straps easily slip if you aren't careful. The large red bow at the waist is absolute perfection; to maintain its crisp 3D shape, a shaping stiffener was secretly stuffed inside—completely invisible from the outside—which snugs the waistline nicely. The skirt hem and cuffs use double-layered large wave ruffles with plenty of fluffiness, and together with the White over-the-knee socks, this is my favorite part of the entire outfit. The top of the over-the-knee socks happens to feature a trim of lace frills, seamlessly connecting to the lace along the bottom hem of the skirt. When sitting or squatting, it beautifully exposes negative space on the legs, while the white socks visually elevate body proportions.

For the wig, to achieve the airy fluffiness and subtle effortless messiness of this short light blue hair, I spent quite some effort before the shoot using hair wax and hairspray to sculpt texture and hair flow. Especially for the bangs, they had to slightly veil the eyes while keeping enough arc to ensure clear vision. For makeup, I used reddish contact lenses to enlarge my eyes, deepened the eyeshadow, and paired it with refined eyeliner, hoping to bring out a mysterious yet playfully cheeky feel before the camera.

The shoot itself was quite physically demanding, especially with that giant red ruffled bonnet on my head—its shape is very dramatic, making my center of gravity unstable with the slightest movement. To prevent it from tilting or slipping off, I used several U-shaped pins and an invisible hairnet to secure it, making minor position adjustments every few shots. I'm quite satisfied with the seated pose in Photo 1: my left hand gently tugs at shoulder fabric while my right hand makes a specific gesture, combined with a cross-legged seated pose, fully displaying all full-body garment details, with the White over-the-knee socks sitting right at a prominent visual focus. As for Photo 2 holding the white mug, that was actually to add a touch of everyday life. In an indoor setting without fancy backdrops, holding a mug while looking down at the camera in a close-up selfie gives this high-and-mighty vampire lady an adorable, casual afternoon tea (or coffee) vibe.

Although this outfit contains numerous details and finding accessories plus adjusting fit took considerable work, being able to get as close as possible to this character's traits in Touhou Project in real life is a deeply fulfilling experience in itself. Much of that unattainable nobility, when brought to an actual photoshoot, is built up through these small details, subtle movements, and gaze adjustments.
