[Sunna cosplay] Angels of Delusion: Seaside Photography

Shooting Sunna from Angels of Delusion along the coast today involved constantly tuning my mindset from the early morning onward. Setting the shoot on a beach proved vastly more challenging than working in a controlled studio. The sea breeze blew incessantly, requiring constant maintenance of the wig and hair accessories, while intense sand reflections risked blowing out highlights if exposure was not meticulously managed. Fortunately, the afternoon light delivered stunning results—the sky displayed a rich gradient and the sea sparkled with specular ripples, providing an ideal natural color palette for the final imagery.

Participating in this shoot as a Guangzhou model required extensive on-location logistical coordination compared to indoor sets. The styling details were remarkably intricate: the wig was a long, pale golden wavy unit adorned with black-and-white cat-ear accessories, white ruffles, a miniature black triangular forehead ornament, and leather strap buckles secured along the temples. For Sunna, the makeup emphasized vivid green circle lenses with pinkish eyeshadow diffused under the eyes, accented by red heart cheek stickers. The wardrobe paired a white sleeveless top with pink-and-white striped knit arm warmers and a black studded choker, striking a visual balance between youthful playfulness and rebellious edge. While referenced as a vacation Swimsuit look in the concept, the styling leaned toward a breezy seaside resort vibe, where the white tank and striped arm warmers felt crisp and refreshing. The black wristwatch mirrored the neck choker, adding cohesive graphic contrast across the frame.

The most deliberate aspect of the shoot was the first-person POV framing. To foster viewer immersion, I simulated reaching out toward the lens to heighten emotional intimacy. The blurred foreground hand was intentionally composed to make the interaction feel as though it reached right through the screen. Maintaining a twisted torso stance while keeping the arm lines elegant was physically demanding; standing in the surf, the chilly water and shifting sands made balance difficult, but the visual outcome justified the effort. To capture the charming paradox of a character who creates complete chaos yet beams with an adorable smile, I refined my micro-expressions to strike a balance between wide-eyed innocence and mischievous cunning. Capturing Sunna's boundless energy was the overarching goal, which is why I love outdoor locations—natural environments yield authentic light bounce and accelerate emotional immersion.

Tuning into the character's defined personality allowed the shoot to progress smoothly despite the unpredictable coastal conditions. Timing the waves and ambient light presented the steepest challenge; because the surf was erratic, the photographer fired continuous bursts to capture the exact instant water crashed against the rocks into foaming white crests. The angle of the sun was constantly shifting, compelling us to finalize key compositions before the light grew overly harsh. For makeup maintenance, setting spray and blotting sheets were used between takes to combat wind and humidity. Every outdoor shoot is a learning experience in adapting to ambient flux while maintaining expressive emotional output. From costume fitting to on-site production, having a hand in every phase made seeing the radiant, cat-eared results on camera deeply rewarding.
