[Tachibana Sherry Cosplay] Magical Girl's Witch Trial: Try-on & Fitting Diary - Image 1

Today's try-on results turned out far better than expected! Tachibana Sherry's uniform from Magical Girl's Witch Trial possesses impressive structural layering, creating a distinct, three-dimensional silhouette once worn. The cropped jacket is tailored from deep navy fabric with wide bell cuffs featuring white inner paneling, naturally draping into crisp folds with the slightest movement. The light-blue striped ascot tie at the neckline, accented with a small black bow on the chest, draws visual focus upward. Paired with the stiff, structured collar of the white shirt, it impeccably embodies the cold, meticulous aesthetic of the series' uniform design.

The lower half consists of a blue-and-white plaid pleated skirt with a front slit, anchored by black ruffled lining underneath that acts as the crowning touch—allowing the skirt to maintain an expansive, graceful flare while walking. To balance the visual weight of the skirt, I paired it with solid Black stockings. These opaque black tights unify the leg lines, echoing the dark outerwear above while creating a slimming effect. For footwear, I opted for black platform leather shoes accented with white lace ankle warmers and a white bow affixed to the left vamp, which enriches the styling of the lower half while breaking up the monotony of all-black footwear. The crossbody black square bag features gold hardware, forming a subtle color-blocking accent alongside the yellow ribbon trim and gold charms on the hat.

As for the wig, the pastel blue twin buns required hair wax beforehand to tame stray flyaways and maintain clean, rounded shapes. I intentionally wore the navy flat-top sailor cap tilted toward the back-right, ensuring it wouldn't flatten the bangs while letting the natural volume of the hair show through. To complement the ensemble, I held a small round handheld mirror with a black handle, capturing a Mirror selfie while shielding my face with the phone. This pose was specifically chosen to showcase the full garment silhouette: balancing both the mirror and phone with one hand naturally elevates the shoulders, which perfectly supports the jacket's tailored shoulder lines.

While taking photos, slightly lifting one leg with toes pointed to the floor allows the skirt to fan out organically, revealing the smooth line of the Black stockings and the white lace ankle details. With the focal point set on the full body, overall proportions appear gracefully elongated. The background wall covered in character badges and acrylic charms, along with merchandise shopping bags on the floor, represents the most authentic setting of everyday try-on selfies. There was no need for elaborate studio backdrops—this grounded, candid Mirror selfie naturally draws attention to the fit, styling, and texture of the outfit.

During the fitting, I also fine-tuned several subtle nuances: pulling the white shirt cuffs slightly past the jacket sleeves, and loosening the knot of the ascot tie so it wouldn't cling tightly against the neck, achieving that effortlessly refined magical girl uniform look. The cut of the outfit is quite cinched at the waist, placing high demands on the waistline, but because the jacket remains open, the white shirt and tie effortlessly balance the negative space from the chest down. The front slit of the skirt ensures comfort when sitting or moving without feeling restrictive, and the platform shoes offer great stability—making this ensemble ideal for upcoming conventions or outdoor shoots. The fabric exhibits wonderful texture under room lighting, with the contrast between deep navy and bright blue popping cleanly before the lens. Once we head outdoors for an official on-location shoot against a wider vista, the visual impact will surely be even more breathtaking.
