[The Shorekeeper Cosplay] The Blues Watcher in Wuthering Waves

This photoshoot features The Shorekeeper cosplay from Wuthering Waves. From initial preparation to the official shoot, we spent over half a month refining every detail. Although posts often say that The Shorekeeper represents a sense of purpose and determination born because of you, back in the reality of the set, what we needed to overcome were mostly minor technical challenges with costumes, makeup, and props.

Let's start with the outfit. The skirt of this blue-and-white spliced dress uses a combination of crinkled texture and layered chiffon fabrics. The color isn't a solid blue; it transitions from the deep blue of the hood down into light blue, finally fading into pure white. To achieve an airy drape, we added multiple layers of fine mesh lining inside the skirt, ensuring the pleats spread naturally when sitting on the floor. The white arm straps were hand-cut and sewn, embellished with thin silver edging to stay as faithful as possible to the ethereal, fairy-like texture of the character concept. The white flower decoration on the hood took several attempts to fix securely so it wouldn't slip off when I turned my head.

The wig was a major focus of this look. Featuring long, light-blue waves and side-parted bangs, the original synthetic hair was rather shiny, so we treated it with matte powder to give it a softer texture that fits the serene aura of a Blue-haired cosplay. Blue colored contacts were paired with a fresh, light makeup look, prioritizing smooth eyeshadow blending and a translucent base. To preserve that otherworldly, ethereal feel, I chose a nude lip color without overly exaggerated lip lining.

Set construction was another major undertaking. The overall studio atmosphere was set in deep blue and pure white. The white angel statue behind me was extremely heavy, requiring a lot of effort from the prop crew to move in; paired with warm yellow flame-less candles on the candlestick, it created a lovely warm-and-cool contrast against the cool blue ambience. To enhance visual depth, blue rose bouquets and Roman pillars were placed on the left, while a white European-style birdcage was arranged on the right. The crinkled, reflective plastic sheet spread across the floor was the finishing touch; though a bit slippery to walk on, it yielded results like stepping on ice or water, complete with flowing light and shadow.

The blue Butterfly prop I held was something I sourced myself, and we experimented with various placements during the shoot. Ultimately, we settled on holding it in both hands before my chest, which naturally showcased the lines of my wrists, face, and neck. Because the lighting angles were continuously adjusted during the shoot, I sat on the floor for several hours to capture optimal facial shadows and garment highlights. While sitting, I had to be careful to arrange the skirt folds so they wouldn't crease harshly, while keeping my leg posture relaxed and natural—complemented by silver strappy sandals to pull off that quiet, elegant demeanor.

Although the process was exhausting, seeing the final Atmospheric photography results—with that dreamlike interplay of blue and white—truly did justice to the gentle yet steadfast core of The Shorekeeper. For anyone who loves this aesthetic, having the opportunity to interpret a beloved character through cosplay is a deeply meaningful experience.
