For our Post-convention dinner after the anime convention, I chose a seat near the glass window, with the table laden with an assortment of dishes and drinks. Dressed in this blue dress, holding chopsticks and a steamed bun, this candid moment was captured by the photographer. Cosplaying Saigyouji Yuyuko (Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay) from Touhou Project was truly enjoyable, with plenty of thought poured into everything from hair and makeup to shooting. The wig was bright pink short curls that exhibited wonderful texture under this everyday ambient light. To match the character's eye demeanor, I specially picked red contact lenses and accentuated the outer corners and lower lashes in the eye makeup, making my eyes appear large and spirited. The costume features intricate details—the lace collar and chest bow were tidied beforehand, and the white lace mob cap on my head carried noticeable weight. After a full day at the convention, I was quite fatigued, but seeing the finished photos made the exhaustion melt away.
When taking this photo set, because the aim was to embrace the character's signature Foodie trait, we intentionally used the authentic dining setting as the backdrop. The table was filled with stir-fries, greens, and bottled beverages, and these organic props made the frame much more vivid. The photographer guided me to pose picking up food with chopsticks while holding a steamed bun in hand; although staged, the joyful mood was completely genuine. Honestly, this Casual style cosplay photography infused with everyday life feels much more natural than rigid standing poses. With light filtering in from behind, it cast a soft halo around the edges of the pink hair, giving the whole frame a vintage film-like aesthetic. In post-processing, we preserved warm tones to make the food look even more appetizing while keeping skin tones luminous and clear.
While this outfit was quite eye-catching at the convention, it was actually rather breezy to wear thanks to its sleeveless cut, perfectly fitting the midsummer warmth. Walking around the convention halls in a lace-adorned dress turned plenty of heads. Dining together afterward is a standard routine with friends after conventions; going out to eat in cosplay always attracts curious glances from passersby, but I find this way of breaking the fourth wall delightfully fun. Holding chopsticks perfectly recreates the iconic impression of the character. Dining was casual and relaxed; to avoid dirtying the costume, my poses were slightly restrained, using just the bun as a prop.
Overall, this Saigyouji Yuyuko cosplay experience was fantastic: the fabric texture, makeup harmony, and restaurant setting all achieved my desired outcome. Cosplaying a character isn't just about wearing her clothes, but feeling her personality in that fleeting moment. Enjoying good food in an everyday setting feels very relaxing. Sharing a complete cosplay set is like summarizing my dedication over this period. From styling the wig to selecting the costume and adjusting my state on shoot day, every step matters. This Casual style cosplay set is especially gratifying, documenting an authentic slice of life after the convention. Looking at this table full of food brings back the happiness of that moment. I hope future conventions bring more free and fun shooting opportunities so I can continue dedicating my passion to my beloved characters in Touhou Project.
