At Chengdu Worldline Animation and Comic Exhibition in 2026, being able to shoot my beloved Asada Shino on-site after so many years was truly a wonderful experience. This time I wore the classic green techwear styling paired with her iconic long rifle, finding a relatively quiet area in the bustling convention crowd to pose for shots.

First, let's talk about the costume, makeup, and props for these Convention photos. The wig is a light cyan-blue short bob, which came out much softer than I expected; in a complex lighting environment like an anime convention, a slightly matte hair tone actually preserves fine details better. The olive green of the jacket with white piping, combined with the inner black fitted corset and metallic gold chest accents, gives a crisp, capable look that fits her character setting from Sword Art Online. To enhance costume layering, the black thigh straps and cutouts are absolute highlights, paired with fitted trousers and thick-soled Martin boots to balance techwear security with leg line extension. Moving around in this outfit is actually quite nimble without cumbersome drapes, and sitting on the car hood allowed for completely free pose execution.

During shooting, we utilized a spot with a derelict vintage car vibe, complete with retro high bar stools and scattered red aluminum cans. As these were Convention photos, lighting relied entirely on natural ambient light. The photographer chose a low-angle camera perspective, which was key: it avoided the cluttered convention crowd in the background while composing the vehicle's hood and character seamlessly into an expansive frame. In close-up shots, holding the rifle conveyed powerful presence, using the long barrel lines to guide visual focus toward my upper body. Personally, I prefer the wide-angle full-body composition—it captures not only my relaxed seated stance but also establishes foreground, midground, and background relationships with blurred cans and bar stools. This instantly opened up the spatial depth, while the green trousers and thigh straps made leg lines look remarkably prominent under the wide lens, conveying a fierce yet calm aura unique to Asada Shino.

In post-processing, we made minor color grading adjustments, softening the harsh noon sunlight at the convention hall into a diffuse daylight effect. This preserved the smooth texture of the white car's paint while desaturating the background, allowing my cyan hair, green top, and metallic rifle colors to pop out of the frame. Holding this prop firearm, the center of gravity sat perfectly balanced without top-heaviness, yielding great stability during poses. Although carrying a large long weapon inevitably drew attention at the hall, staying deeply focused in character quickly pulled me into that wasteland sniper atmosphere.

Looking back at these photos, there are no forced exaggerated expressions, but rather a sense of grounded stability and confidence. The presence this character bestows comes not just from the costume, but from an internal, steadfast state of mind. Leaving behind such clear Convention photos as a souvenir at Chengdu Worldline Animation and Comic Exhibition in 2026 is truly the best possible conclusion for this character showcase.
