[Zenless Zone Zero Vivian Cosplay] Quiet Freeze-Frame in a Gothic Setting

This quiet sense of unrequited love finally found a concrete medium in this blue-purple dark tone photoshoot within a Gothic setting. The lens focus this time was not just about restoring the character's outer appearance, but exploring the melancholy and independence hidden beneath Vivian's everyday exterior within the Zenless Zone Zero worldview.

Let's talk about the overall silhouette first. The main tone of the black-and-white outfit creates a stark contrasting visual effect. The white top features layered ruffled cuffs with cutout tailoring at the back, making the entire upper body look rich in texture without feeling heavy. The black skirt at the bottom has a subtle sheen, and its drape fits the body's center of gravity perfectly. The wig chosen this time features flowing long hair with slightly curled ends, working with those sharply shaped ears for an Elf ears cosplay look—whether looking straight at the camera or turning back, a unique sense of alien detachment shines through the light and shadow.

The set design for this shoot was very refined. Typical European Roman pillars and carved arch windows paired with dark purple faux floral arrangements on both sides created a enclosed and mysterious space. The prop that fit the character's disposition best was that black umbrella with white patterns; its canopy texture possessed a distinct quality under complex light sources. During shooting, this umbrella served not merely as a prop, but as a medium helping me enter the character's mindset. The integration of crosses added a touch of solemnity, forming a subtle resonance with the character's own style.

Photographer Aban had brilliant ideas regarding lighting, relying mainly on side-backlighting and blue-purple ambient light to outline the overall silhouette. I needed to find the character's expression within this dark, cool-toned environment. Because the character carries a quiet, almost lonely trait, I didn't overuse facial expressions before the camera to force liveliness; instead, I used an almost zero-degree emotion to perform this Gothic style cosplay. Especially in that look-back close-up, the eye contact paired with a subtly raised corner of the mouth felt unforced and un-flattering—capturing this state often reaches closer to the character's true soul.

We shot from several angles, including wide shots showcasing the full set and close-ups capturing outfit details. Adjusting the body's center of gravity while holding the black umbrella required some technique: ensuring the pattern on the canopy was shown to the lens without blocking the body's structural lines. The makeup and hair actually took quite a bit of time to carve out. During shooting, most of the time was spent in an immersive state, letting go of over-focusing on whether the camera was perfectly focused, and instead placing attention on communicating with the scene itself. Although this outfit combination has strong styling presence, it imposes certain constraints on motion amplitude, so static poses actually better display the garment's architectural beauty.

For cosplay, immersion is often more important than pure physical resemblance. Through this camera capture in a cool-light environment, I feel I've found Vivian's lonely yet steadfast trait. This should be one of my most coherent attempts at character interpretation recently. May this quietness and solitude of unrequited love remain frozen within these Gothic set frames.
