This Chesh cosplay shoot from Arknights: Endfield in the studio today turned out far more hardcore than I anticipated. During the process of bringing this outfit into reality, material selection was crucial: the iridescent reflective fabric of the bustier easily blew out or reflected unevenly under studio lights. Fortunately, the photographer utilized a softbox with subtle rim backlighting to tame that holographic tech sheen, preserving all the details. As for the wig, styling the layered ice-blue short hair was a true test of craftsmanship. The combination of fluffy ears and goggles on top looked adorable, but when looking up or posing a salute, it easily cast harsh shadows across my face, requiring numerous angle adjustments.
The white tactical pants on the lower half actually boast massive design highlights: cutouts on both thighs spliced with transparent inner fabric evoke a futuristic vibe while visually elongating body proportions. Walking in these gigantic plush paw shoes demanded substantial foot strength; because the soles are thick and the plush fabric slips easily, posing on the ladder meant tightening my core muscles, otherwise I could have easily tumbled off. To showcase my legs and the overall gear aesthetic for this Tactical style cosplay, we experimented with several angles on that metal ladder—including the cover shot, which required balancing on one foot on a rung while extending the other leg straight and keeping my waist erect. Holding this pose for long left my waist and back thoroughly sore. The cinched-waist cut and tactical belts cleanly defined my proportions, preventing any bulky silhouette. The lettering details on the gloves and arms were faithfully recreated, even if some letters were tricky to discern under harsh light.
The jumping shot took countless takes. Because the mechanical rig with polka-dot patterns and weapon components on my back had noticeable weight, maintaining balance during the jump while keeping my facial expression composed was genuinely tough. The hands-pressed-together pose was similar; the squeak of leather gloves rubbing against fabric echoed loudly in the quiet studio, demanding angle confirmations with the photographer each time. Throughout the shoot, what I cared about most was the cut of the cropped black jacket—its shoulder tailoring was exquisite, creating a powerful visual contrast against the glossy bandeau underneath. While the white wide-leg pants and giant plush shoes might seem exaggerated, in front of the lens they nicely counterbalanced the compactness of the upper half.
Being able to smoothly produce today's event photo delivery actually took quite a long preparation period. From pattern drafting to prop assembly, every step underwent rigorous verification. In particular, the tactical belts and pouches around the waist were extremely intricate to put on, requiring crew members to help buckle them tightly to keep them from shifting during dynamic, large movements. The studio lighting design was unique: the background was crushed very dark, leaving only rim light to sculpt the character and equipment. This high-contrast chiaroscuro emphasized the cool palette of blue, white, and black even more. To align with this character's combat lore, I adopted a restrained performance in my posture and demeanor, focusing my gaze firmly through the lens. Though physically exhausting, seeing the light and shadow on the monitor proved every hardship worthwhile. The texture of this Sci-Fi cosplay set fully met expectations, with details that truly withstand close inspection.
