Sorting through my album, I dug out this set of Firefly from before. The biggest regret back then was that the colored contacts kept spinning around, so my gaze always lacked that certain something in the shots. Recently, I finally found a pair of axis-stabilized Firefly contacts. Testing them out, they are super stable, and the pupil pattern stays right in the center, which is absolutely crucial for restoring the character's expression. So, I've decided to shoot Firefly again at the end of the month to give this school uniform style a fresh take.
What I'm sharing this time is the re-edited version of the old photos. Photographer @HeroA made subtle adjustments to the tones, light, and shadow based on the raw shots, making the white and grey plaid of the uniform more translucent, while highlighting the scholarly vibe and youthful feel. The classroom setting paired with bouquets and a schoolbag, along with the post-processed drifting paper sheets, maxes out the atmospheric vibe. Firefly's greyish-white hair with its gradient blue tips shows distinct layers under the light, and the accuracy of the hairstyle is another part I'm really happy with.
But at the end of the day, the details of Anime cosplay often lie in these exact things—the flow of the wig hair, the texture of the uniform's hardware, and the axis position of the colored contacts. Every single item dictates the final outcome of the Cosplay photography. With better props and makeup prep for this reshoot, I hope to capture Firefly's cool yet slightly stubborn temperament even more accurately. Once the final photos are out, I'll share a comparison of the new version with everyone to see how much of an upgrade the axis-stabilized contacts bring! #Honkai: Star Rail Creator Incentive Program
