This convention cosplay photo features the Herrscher of Human, Elysia, a set completed by making use of whatever was available on-site at the convention venue. Regarding this costume, the overall color scheme is mainly blue, white, and purple, paired with long pink hair and elf ears, making the styling layers incredibly rich. What attracts everyone's attention the most should be this glowing weapon, which comes with its own purple-pink light effect. Under the on-site lighting setup, the weapon's light effect echoes the costume's color scheme perfectly.
Since it was shot in an indoor venue, the ambient light on-site was very cluttered; reflections from the ceiling lights and surrounding pedestrians would interfere with the frame. After communicating with the photographer, we decided to use a blue folding ladder found on-site as a support point. Picture two was taken while sitting on the ladder; the benefit of doing this is that it avoids the messy background on the ground while raising the eye level, making the proportions of the weapon look more complete in the frame. Picture one, on the other hand, shows a standing posture, where I stretched my figure out and paired it with a raised hand gesture to demonstrate the dynamic movement of the swinging weapon and the flowing motion of the ribbons. The silhouette of this costume is quite rich; the sleeves and long ribbons easily get tangled during movements, so I repeatedly adjusted them several times during shooting breaks to maintain the final posture in the photo.
For the character Elysia, that playful, agile, yet elegantly divine temperament is very hard to capture. To fit this feeling, my gaze and micro-expressions were slightly restrained during convention photography; I didn't smile too widely, trying my best to maintain a calm sense of confidence. The wig is long, straight pink hair. Since conventions are crowded, the strands easily get messed up or stick to the face, so I sprayed a lot of styling spray before shooting to ensure the fluffiness of the style. The weapon itself naturally glows, and when coordinated with the camera's long exposure or flash, it presents a texture similar to magical energy, which is also a major highlight of this convention cosplay photo. The cut of this costume around the waist and abdomen is quite tight, requiring constant attention to posture—no slouching—to hold up the shape of the entire outfit, which was quite physically draining during the shooting process.
During the convention, I also met many fellow fans who recognized this look. Everyone was exclaiming that the size of this weapon was highly substantial, and holding it to pose definitely requires some core strength. The shoot lasted for most of the afternoon, requiring makeup touch-ups and re-tying the leg armor in between, but seeing the final output edits was very comforting. Thanks to the accompanying photographer who squeezed into the crowded room, utilizing the on-site exhibitor area light sources and the ladder assistance to recreate the blue and purple colors of the costume transparently enough, while beautifully preserving the edge highlights of the metal armor. I hope to have more opportunities to try similar on-site environments in the future to dig out the possibilities of this outfit under different light and shadow conditions.
